Tagg came into art the way a lot of people do, sketching in school books, marking up anything he could get his hands on. That moved onto walls, and now onto canvas and paper. The work pulls from music icons, pop culture, celebrities, and even politics, filtered, broken down, and rebuilt into something more abstract.
He doesn’t overthink it. If people connect with it, they connect. If they don’t, that’s fine too.
“Pop culture’s like a timestamp; it marks where you were at a certain point in your life. Whoever’s running the charts, flooding your feed, or just something you heard or saw at the right moment… it sticks. That’s when art or music really means something.
Not everyone gets it straight away. Sometimes you’ve got to sit with a piece for a while before it clicks, before you catch its frequency.”
