About Studio Skellett

Studio Skellett is the collaborative practice of brothers Paul and Jason Skellett, two professional contemporary figurative artists working across sculpture, painting and design. Together, we create original artworks that explore the human condition, drawing on themes of resilience, mental health, identity and our relationship with the modern world.

Their work has been exhibited internationally. Alongside their original paintings and sculptures. They also produce limited-edition fine art prints, publications and selected merchandise.

Studio Skellett was born from a shared decision to build a life centred on creativity, purpose and family. After successful careers in branding, graphic design, illustration and print, we reached a point where we wanted to devote ourselves entirely to creating original art that reflected our own ideas and experiences.

    

Paul: "The loss of both our parents profoundly changed our perspective. It reminded us that life is finite and encouraged us to pursue the work we had always dreamed of creating. Together, as brothers, we established Studio Skellett not only as a professional art practice, but as a way of carrying our family name forward through something built with passion, integrity and lasting meaning."

Jay: "We are currently developing several major bodies of work, including a new collection exploring the hidden realities of living with chronic illness, as well as larger exhibition projects for galleries and public spaces."

Paul: "What made us want to set up our own business/studio practice was the desire for creative freedom and the chance to build something that felt entirely our own. We wanted the space to develop ideas at our own pace, take risks, and create work that was true to our interests and values rather than being limited by someone else’s brief or structure."

Jay: "We also wanted more control over how we worked day to day. Running our own studio means we can shape the environment, the projects we take on, and the way we present our work, while building direct relationships with clients, collaborators and audiences."

Paul: "Both of us also live with fibromyalgia, a long-term chronic pain condition. Rather than allowing it to define us, we have channelled that experience into our creative practice. Art has become a powerful way of managing the physical and emotional challenges of the condition, and it has inspired a growing body of work that seeks to raise awareness, encourage conversation and offer hope to others living with invisible illnesses."

Jay: "We believe this authenticity is what gives our work its greatest value. Collectors are not simply acquiring an artwork; they are engaging with a genuine story of resilience, craftsmanship and creative purpose."
